Local School Council
The Agassiz Local School Council (LSC) is the site-based management team of the school. The LSC consists of 11 voting council members:
- 6 parent representatives,
- 2 community representatives,
- 2 teacher representatives, and
- 1 principal.
Parents and community residents elect the parent and community representatives. Members of the school faculty and staff elect the teacher representatives. All ten elected members of the LSC serve a two-year term. The school Principal holds a permanent seat on the council.
The LSC has 4 primary responsibilities
- Principal Selection: The LSC is responsible for selecting the school's Principal. Principals are hired for a 4-year contract, at the end of which they are either rehired or replaced by the LSC.
- Principal Evaluation: The LSC is responsible for conducting performance evaluations of the Principal throughout their contract.
- School Improvement Planning: The LSC is responsible for developing and approving the School Improvement Plan for Advancing Academic Achievement (SIPAAA)
- School Budget: The LSC is responsible for developing and approving the school's budget. Upon approval the LSC manages the school's budget as well as discretionary funds.
In addition to these four primary responsibilities, our LSC is devoted to and involved in many other areas of school improvement. In order to better focus on these specific areas, the LSC forms committees. Anyone interested in serving on an LSC committee may join. You do not need to be elected to join a committee or attend meetings. There are several committees and other school groups, including:
- Bilingual Advisory Committee (BAC). Note: after the jump, click BAC link on the left
