Admissions
Kindergarten through 8th grade
If you reside within our attendance boundaries and your child is in grades Kindergarten or above, you can enroll your child by coming to the school’s front office. You will need to bring:
- your child's original birth certificate,
- social security card,
- immunization record, and
- two documents that prove your address.
If you do not live within our attendance boundaries and your child is in grades Kindergarten or above, you must complete the standard application and participate in the CPS lottery to gain admission to the school. (Note that the school code for Agassiz is 2030AG.)
- Lottery applications for fall admission are generally due in December of the previous year. For school year 2011-2012, lottery applications were accepted from October 1 through December 17, 2010.
- Prospective parents will then be notified of lottery results via U.S. mail by the end of March/first part of April. For school year 2011-2012, notification letters were mailed by March 25, 2011.
- Once you have gained admission to the school through the lottery, you can then enroll your child. The enrollment deadline is included in your acceptance letter. It is usually in mid-April.
Preschool 3 and 4
Agassiz offers the Preschool for All program. Children who are at least three years of age, but not yet five on or before September 1st of the current school year are eligible. You can apply at any time by filling out an application and submitting it to the school.
Admissions priority for preschool is as follows:
- Children at risk (primary language not English, low family income, homelessness, etc.),
- Children who reside within our attendance boundaries, and
- Children who reside outside our attendance boundaries.
Admission for Preschool for All generally follows the same timelines as Kindergarten through eighth grade.
