PLATINUM After School Program Class Descriptions

Fun with Food

Reading children's classics has never been more fun! After completing each story, children will cook up delicious recipes to accompany story.

J.U.M.P.

Students will experience a variety of fitness activities, such as yoga and ballet, which will test their motor skills and coordination. Classes are taught by professional, certified instructors and trainers from Lincoln Park Athletic Club.

Homework Center

Participation allows students to take advantage of time and eliminate concerns about homework. This translates into more family time at home!

Media Arts

Students’ interests guide the focus of this technology and media experience. Study may include: multi-media presentations, video development, and/or paint and photo programs.

Junior Knights Chess

This class infuses academic, intellectual, and social skills learning. Students can improve their academic performance and develop positive life skills by utilizing chess as a teaching tool.

Arts and Crafts

By exploring the works of a variety of artists, children will become familiar with many different art forms. Getting creative and a little messy has never been more fun!

Rotating Games

Students will rotate at different centers where they will play ping pong, foos ball, bean bag toss game and other games. Children are grouped by age and skill levels and challenged to their motor skills.

Storytime Yoga

Help create peaceful children and a peaceful world with this book that teaches the universal wisdom of yoga philosophy using multicultural, interfaith stories to bring peace and character education to children and families. Stories will include tales culled from the world's many faith traditions.  

It’s Not Magic, It’s Science

Every child who performs these fabulous feats will feel like a magician—but the magic here is really science at play. Science topics will include air pressure, optical illusions, balance, Bernoulli effect, capillary action, density, temperature, and laws of motions.

Beginning Spanish

Fun foreign language immersion for children, multilingual educators will focus on children’s natural ability to absorb a new language.

 

 

Beginning Guitar

Students will learn to play guitar in a small group setting. The lessons are created with the beginner in mind.

Martial Arts

Students will participate in a variety of marital art forms to help strengthen their body. mind coordination, discipline, and self-esteem.

Registration/Tuition Agreement

2009-2010

 

As the parent of (print child’s name) _________________________________, I agree to enroll my child in the Louis J. Agassiz Tuition After School Program.  The program will run Monday-Friday from 3:00-6:00p.m. The before and after school program will begin on Monday, September 21, 2009. The parent handbook will be given out a later time.

 

My financial obligation for one child is $70 per week. If I register a second child my tuition will be discounted(see below). I agree to the payments as listed above.

 

Tuition Options:

4-5 days a week = $70  Sibling cost = $35

3 days a week = $45 Sibling cost = $25

2 days a week = $30 Sibling cost = $15

I agree that I am liable for my child’s tuition upon signing this agreement. I also acknowledge that there is no refund for missed days or if my child is suspended for misconduct.

I have read the entire agreement before signing, and accept the terms of the agreement in its entirety, as indicated by my signature below.
